Hector

The “Hero”. He was born in Louisiana from old French stock. His Dad is pretty well off, and mother is head of the "Conservatoire". From a very young age his only dream has been to become a classical Music composer. Very young he has discovered Hector Berlioz,who has the same name as he and he wants to write a symphony of “Symphonie Fantastique” caliber. He is sent to Paris to learn counterpoint. He is a 25 years old, sexually very novice and not a particularly good looking man with bushy hair, but could he be a musical GENIUS?

Aurelie
|

Comes from a very good family too but her parents died in a car crash when she was four years old.She was brought up by a single aunt who used to tell her to go and play in the park on week ends so that the aunt could spend time with her various lovers.Very young she learns the power of seduction: she leaves “home” when she is 16 years old never to return. She takes with her everywhere her Flute, her only real friend. She will learn very fast how to get all she wants from men. Later on she hitchhikes towards the “Cote d’Azur”, she will be picked up by John Sebastian, an attractive man in his forties. She will settle with him, still having the odd love affair with the “boys of the street”. He doesn’t seem to mind providing she comes back. At 22, she is preparing the recording of her first CD, courtesy of J S, better known by the left bank tribe as Sugar Daddy, when she encounters Hector. She has never met someone so intense, she can play Music but he can write Music and he writes for so many instruments, she never knew so many instruments existed … She falls for him but here come problems when the two lovers meet… and let’s not forget the third one involved… MUSIC.

John Sebastian

An American songwriter/producer who owns a record label and did very well for himself in the 80’s. His dream was to write classical music but he was not good at it so he decided that making money was the next best thing. A cross between Phil Spector and Berry Gordy. He owns a small vineyard in South of France. He was divorced a long time ago with no children. He loves the father-lover relationship he has with Aurelie. He accepts her little escapades as she always comes back to him, that is until Hector comes on the scene; now he is worried, he can compete against any lover, master most odds but Hector in Aurelie’s world is MUSIC. Can he defeat MUSIC? He will certainly use all his skills in order to do so…

“Nothing surpasses it but true love” used to say Hector Berlioz. Is it true? True Love? How long does True Love lasts for? Music is eternal. Patrick’s approach in this Musical is a monument dedicated to all the Music he has loved and played from Beethoven, Berlioz, Georges Bizet, Puccini, Cole Porter, Mc Cartney, Burt Bacharach Carlos Jobim, Reggae or Salsa… We believe that, in the 21st Century, people are smart enough to appreciate all kinds of Music in one play providing you add a bit of humor in the mix.

Chopin
|

|
|
He is the accordion player and believes he is a classical musician (no one else does). In the Hitchcock tradition of appearing in your own production, that’s the role Patrick would like for the grand opening.Chopin had been Aurelie’s short term/part time lover and is still grieving. He does not like Hector but will have to eventually accept his talent.

Bizet the Jamaican
|
|
|
|
Along with BAHAMAMAMA they sing “Don’t fall in love with love”, the reggae number that mocks Hector and Aurelie’s new relationship. They are part of the little tribe that dwells on the Left Bank in Paris and contains a various number of people.

In his heydays he has been produced by John Sebastian and made a little name for himself as a basic Rock & Roll star.His IQ is strictly limited, so are his guitar skills, but he has lots of energy and some form of charisma and is dedicated to John Sebastian who will use him in order to place an Ocean between Hector and Aurelie...
